I am a Principal Adversary Emulation Engineer at MITRE. I lead the macOS/Linux efforts for MITRE ATT&CK®. I focus on adversary emulation and malware development while designing and delivering hands-on training programs that empower cybersecurity professionals across the globe. Throughout my time at MITRE, I’ve taken on several technical and leadership roles, including serving as CTI Team Leader for MITRE ATT&CK Evaluations and leading research projects for the Center of Threat-Informed Defense. I’m passionate about mentoring others and working on projects that are like the tide, they raise all ships.

My career in cybersecurity began at Target, where I developed an algorithm to assess and strengthen the organization’s security posture based on data & behavioral analytics, resulting in a patent. I went on to become Target’s first female internal red team operator and later its first full-time threat hunter. I’m grateful to have helped design and mature the company’s threat hunting program, fostering stronger collaboration between teams and significantly improving its maturity. Before moving into the private sector, I served as a military intelligence professional in an Army Airborne unit, completing two combat deployments that shaped my strategic approach to problem-solving.

Outside of work, I love sharing knowledge through workshops, public speaking, and this blog, CatalystCode.org. Whether mentoring others, planning an epic adventure in foreign lands, learning Chinese, or Salsa dancing, I’m always excited to connect with people from all walks of life.

My Why

As I’ve navigated this field I find incredible resources but they are often not the complete version of what I need. Sometimes what I need is guidance on how to navigate this field as a woman in a way that maintains authenticity but drops the acidity. Other times, I need a resource that explains the inter-dependent relationship of different computer science disciplines. And still others, I just want to hear how someone else navigates this thing called life.

The goal of this blog is to pass along answers I have found to questions I have asked or been asked by those I lead.
